Avoriaz

The ski resort in Avoriaz, that opened in 1966, was the first masterplanned ski resort in France to abandon any form of vehicular circulation, in order to "suppress all the inconveniences of urban life, in particular noise and pollution". It is by the architect Jean-Jacques Orzoni, Jean-Marc Roques and Jacques Labro. The otline plan puts emphasis on the circulation of skiers and access from the snow areas, to a network of pathways within the resort that makes it possible to ski to any hotel or apartment building.
